Baptism is a symbol of something greater than just the physical action of being submerged in water. It is meant to show and declare to the world that you love and trust in Jesus, and have put your hope in Him for salvation & redemption. It shows that you’ve decided to join God’s family and that you’ve made a commitment to follow Jesus; heart, mind, and soul. If you’ve never been baptized after salvation, it’s certainly your next step!
What is the meaning and significance of baptism?
A Move From Death to Life:
Baptism is a symbol of Christ’s burial and resurrection. Our entrance into the water during baptism identifies us with Christ’s death on the cross, His burial in the tomb, and His resurrection from the dead.
“12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.” Colossians 2:12-14 ESV
A Brand New Life:
It is a symbol of your new life as a Christian. We bury the ‘old life’ and we rise to walk in a ‘new life’. Baptism is like a wedding ring, it is the outward symbol of the commitment you made in your heart, a commitment that has to be followed through and lived out on a daily basis.
When and Where:
We do baptisms several times a year, during our services but if you would like to be baptized at another time, just call our office at 724-424-7262, email info@hopealive.net, or talk with Pastor Mike directly.
