Download Today’s Devotional: Day – 08 – Psalm 23 – 17 Promises from the 23rd Psalm
I count a least seventeen promises from God to His children in the twenty-third Psalm. These promises affect every aspect of our lives. As you’re meditating on God’s word this morning, open your journal or tablet and record the promises that you find. Before we begin, let’s go to the Father in prayer:
Dear Jesus, you are my Good Shepherd, watching over my life with genuine concern and love. Open your word to me this morning. Give me revelation of your care for me. I ask this in the name and authority of your son Jesus Christ, amen.
The 23rd Psalm is perhaps the most widely known of all the psalms, in part I believe, because is so aptly describes our Father’s great love and care for every detail of our lives. Our protection from harm, our need for food and rest, for leadership and direction. As you slowly read and meditate on these verses today, ask the Holy Spirit to make each of these promises a reality in your heart. Use your sanctified imagination to see Jesus making these promises personally to you.
Psalm 23
A psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. 2 He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. 3 He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. 4 Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. 5 You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. 6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. [1]
